  4. See Figure 4-1 in student book, Formatting toolbar Formatting Text • Formatting – arranging the shape, size, type, and general makeup of a document. • To format a document, use the buttons on the Formatting toolbar or the commands on the Format menu.

  7. Font Style • Font Style – set of formatting features that can be applied to text to change its appearance. • Most common font styles: • Bold–Underline • Italic • To change the font style, click the buttons on the Formatting toolbar.

  8. Font Size • Font Size– determined by measuring the height of characters in units called points. • To change font size, choose Font on the Format menu or use the Font Size box on the Formatting toolbar.

See Figure 4-8 in student book, Font Color palette Font Color • To change the color of text, select the text and choose Font on the Format menu, then click the down arrow next to the Font color box. You can also click the arrow on the Font Color button on the Formatting toolbar. Choose a color from the palette.

See Table 4-2 in student book, Underline styles Changing Underline Style and Color • To choose an underline style, click the down arrow on the Underline style box and select a style from the drop-down list. • To choose an underline color, click the down arrow on the Underline color box and select a color from the palette.

  13. See Figure 4-10 in student book, Change Case dialog box Changing Case • To change the case of text, select the text and choose Change Case from the Format menu. The Change Case dialog box appears.

  14. Copying Format and Style • Format Painter – copies the format and style of a block of text. • Select the formatted text to be copied. Click the Format Painter button, then select the text you want to format.

  15. Summary • Common font styles are bold, italic, and underline. • Font size is measured in points. • Color of text, style of underline, color of underline, and font effects can be changed in the Font dialog box.

  16. Summary • The case of selected text can be changed in the Change Case dialog box. • Format Painter copies the format and style of text.
