Introduction • Alignment of organizational and nurse values increases competitive advantage. • Alignment offer optimal balance between the patient-related activities and the goals of the hospital. • It also helps informulation of a collective mission statement (Lipe & Beasley, 2004). • Effective communication at the individual level helps in overcoming workplace challenges.

Collective Mission • Creation of a constructive organizational culture is not easy. • Alignment leads to creation of a defined sense of purpose. • The sense of collectivity is critical to meeting the varied needs of the patients. • Alignment createssynergies that enable the individual nurse to contribute his/her strength in providing patient service (Lipe & Beasley, 2004). • The alignment is important in creating the awareness that help in resolving problems pertinent to patient care.

Benefits of the Alignment • Alignment enhances the delivery of care. • Helps in thecreation of a healthy work environment. • One of the benefits is identification of pressing challenges in the organization. • This helps in initiation of discussion that lead to development of mitigating approaches. • Alignment helps in enhancing organizational commitment that fulfils the needs of the patient (McCabe, Timmins, & Campling, 2006).

Personal Experience • There are many instances where organizational values and individual nurses do not align. • I have experienced instances where there is lack of involvement of nurses in decision-making. • Lack of engagement leads to adverse repercussions. • One of the repercussion is decreased morale. • Consequently, the patient losses due to reduced centered care that arises from a demotivated nurse.

Conclusion • Alignment contributes toprosperity of the organization. • Organizational values on paper leads tounproductive working environment. • Lack of aligmentstalls progress of health organization (Lipe & Beasley, 2004). • An important factor in the alignment is effective communication. • Effective communication leads to development of a collaborative work environment that is constructive.
