Dive into the world of celebrity success on Twitter through innovative visualizations. This project showcases how celebrities like Shaquille O'Neal and Conan O'Brien engage with their followers and tweets daily. Utilizing interactive charts, users can explore follower counts and tweet frequencies, which reveal intriguing patterns in their online influence. By improving usability with intuitive filters and clear instructions, we aim to enhance user experience and engagement with the data. Future work will expand on behavior analysis over time, comparisons, and social connections.

  1. Twitter Superstars: What Does Celebrity Success on Twitter Look Like? • Sean Carey, Carol Chen, Yo-Shang Cheng, Anjana Dasu

  2. Modifications • Added celebrity photos • Thinned out lines, made grey ones lighter • Changed the filters from checkboxes to buttons • Added followers as an axis, and as buttons • Added search • Added average line • Explored use of color

  6. User Tests • 4 users, 2 alternate visualizations • ¾ users follow celebrities: Shaq, Conan O’Brian, Nathan Fillion, Neal Patrick Harris, Sockington, Tim O’Reilly, Chris Connell • 10-15 minute talk out loud exploratory tests

  7. Users… • Were drawn to playing with the parallel coordinates • Guessed celebrities’ Twitter shapes • Wanted to find celebrities’ lines again • Found the number of Followers and Tweets per day to be interesting as axes • Became really excited about seeing their own success line

Design Decisions • Worked on making button filters intuitive • Added instructions on how to use the parallel coordinates axes and how to Add Yourself • Added a progress bar for the Add Yourself function • Added Followers and Tweets per Day as axes, removed non-essential ones • Added an interactive list of celebrities to easily find success lines • Made contrast between blue and grey lines more pronounced
