  3. Northern KentuckyCommunity Health Committee • Committee of the Board of Health • 25 members • Residents: Public and private health care, hospitals, schools, businesses, universities, social service, government, church, and environmental agencies

  4. Purpose of theCommunity Health Committee • Assess the health of the Northern Kentucky community • Create and implement a Community Health Plan with collaboration throughout the community

  5. Overall Role of theCommunity Health Committee • Advise, consult with, and make recommendations to the Board of Health. • Present the perspective they represent in discussion, balancing those views with a district-wide perspective.

  6. Desired Attributes • Commitment to improving the health of the community. • Knowledge related to the health problems and community resources. • Skills beneficial to the planning process. • Willingness to maintain a district-wide perspective. • Ability to represent an important perspective, organization, or sector of the district.

  7. Responsibilities • 3-year appointment, one possible reappointment • Regular quarterly meetings of one to two hours • Eight to ten sub-committee or extra meetings per year of one to two hours • One to two hours a month for preparation and follow-up • Level of participation may vary depending on commitment and ability to provide time

  8. Accomplishments prior to MAPP • Northern Kentucky Community Health Plan, Volumes I (1996) and II (1999) • 10 priority health issues

Expanding into MAPP • Community Health Committee became MAPP Committee • Visioning • Identified a broad-based array of participants and groups to contribute to visioning process • Helped with disseminating surveys and collection of completed surveys • Creation of four MAPP assessment subcommittees • CHC members suggested community members for each assessment subcommittee
