The Ordinance • Accuracy and duration of retention This provides that personal data should beaccurate, up-to-date and kept no longer than necessary. • Information to be generally available This provides for openness by data users about the kinds of personal data they hold and the main purposes for which personal data are used.( infringement of the law), if agreement no infringement • Access to personal data This provides for data subjects to have rights of access to and correction of their personal data

  5. How spyware run???? • 1.They will show some advertisement to threaten you, you need to download their software to solve it • 2.When you download it, besides stealing your personal data, the software will block the website (URL) of Anti-Spyware (browser hijacking :redirect all requests to the same URL, change of the home URL, Change of the history URLs , a lot of pop-ups, cannot go to anti-spyware website )

  6. What spyware will do on your computer • Stealing personal data • Monitoring the user’s browsing habits for marketing purpose • To pop-up the webpage to become the advertisement of their website ?????

  7. Way to prevent spyware • Anti-spyware(Ad-Aware, Spybot-S&D) • Use Firewall (or install Firewall software, e.g. ZoneAlarm) under the Windows to block the unknown advertisement in the website

  8. Non-personal Data • To evaluate their website • Improve the design • Enrich the contents • E.g. Browser version, OS version, screen resolution, IP address

  9. Cookies • Small text file that store the information of the websites you have visited before(Client side) • Store the information on your computer so that that website can recognize you automatically when you visit the site again

  10. Advantages • Store user’s preference (喜好設定) about the website • For simple & quick authentication( cookies can store the user id and password) • To improve the navigation • Provide a customized service( service you like)

  11. Disadvantages • The user’s browsing activities have been logged in the computer • Personal information may be leaked out easily

  12. Would cookies contain virus? • NO (cookies is only a plain text file, plain text file can’t content virus) • The own server only can read their own server cookies (rule)
