  5. 1st motivation - results • NESSI Projects Summit – show how the strong coordination and coherence mechanisms leads to tighter integration of RTD and increase the long-term exposure of the results of our research • NEXOF is the hub for the collaboration NESSI Projects Summit

  6. 2nd motivation – community engagement • From 2005 to 2010, NESSI community increased to 420 organisations • Split equally between industry and academia NESSI Projects Summit

  9. 3rd motivation – the emergence of Future Internet • 2006 - ETPs eMobility, ISI, NEM and NESSI identify the need for collaboration • 2006 – creation of the cross-ETPs working group • 2007 – Future Internet identified as a convergence topic for the ETPs, providing end-to-end scenarios NESSI Projects Summit

  10. 3rd motivation – the emergence of Future Internet • The Future Internet? • A unifying environment in which complete user oriented scenarios could be defined • An environment to which each ETP could contribute specific elements to instantiate such scenarios • The environment used to involve users • ICT 2008 : the Future Internet position paper by the ETPs NESSI Projects Summit

The ETPs- speeding up the Future Internet • The existence of NESSI and of all the ETPs active in the ICT domains is a major advantage for the Future Internet PPP – providing the PPP with a starting point that is advanced both in terms of communities and of coherent mechanisms.   22. The Future Internet for NESSI • The Future Internet PPP provides NESSI with a great opportunity, and puts the role of NESSI Strategic and Compliant Projects at the forefront of this role. Building on the already impressive results of many of these projects, and moving forward in a coherent manner is at the heart of NESSI’s current and future operations. NESSI Projects Summit
