Executive Branch Requirements to be president The president must be at least 35 years old. He/she must be a natural born citizen. He/she must be a resident of the U.S. for at least 14 years. He/she serves a 4 year term with a limit of 2 terms. The president’s salary is $400,000 a year. 2
