Aims • To present an overview of issues and ideas for the development of on-line digital resources for learning • To consider the issues in both ‘generic’ terms and as they impact individual projects
Design considerations • User audience • Identify and describe your users and stakeholders • What are their characteristics (incl limitations)? • Purpose of the resource • What is your resource? • What are the objectives? • What do you want users to do/be able to do?
Design cont’d • Technology limitations • Where/how will users be accessing the resource? • Accessibility • Navigation • Browse or search? Lead or follow? • Interactivity Passive Active
Design cont’d • Appeal • Visual appearance • Engaging the user • Appropriate level - Differentiation • Guidance and Support • How much? Who? When? How?
Design cont’d • Feedback • Inviting and collecting • Building relationships and communities • Evaluation • Tracking, collecting, measuring, interpreting • Purpose?
Breakout • Form groups with members from different projects • Identify Stakeholders • List issues for each stakeholder • List generic and specific to the project • List ideas for resource for each • List generic and specific to the project
