Art of Nature Spring Workshops are for Parents & Children Ages 20 mos-3 years At Sundancer, we encourgage creativity and curiosity. We embrace precious moments in life with our children, when we slow down, interact and stimulate a sense of wonder. Sundance fosters moments of sound, sight, taste, smell and touch of our natural world and draws on its creative potential. These experiences nurture and stimulate development. We aim to help parents and children activelygrow together through nature, reading, creating, dancing, playing & laughing. Sundancer cultivates wonder. Contact Information for Sundancer. 2. SUNDANCER Art of Nature Workshops: Spring What to expect in each workshop… All workshops follow a set rhythm, which helps everyone feel comfortable, ready to learn & have fun! Together we’ll… * begin each workshop with warm greetings, an intro to the theme, and a preview of all activities.   * read a high-interest, age-appropriate book which relates to the week’s theme. * explore creative movement, singing, and instrument exploration. * create together, using a wide array of artistic mediums. * have a peaceful closing: reflecting on what we’ve learned & cleaning our space. * distribute enrichment extension materials to parents, including ideas to do at home & correlating events that occur in the DC/Met area. Workshop I. Buddings The Earth is awakening. It’s a time for us to shed the cacoon of yesterday & spread our wings for tomorrow. We’ll create several varying versions of interactive spring gardens. One garden we’ll piece together with fabric & the other with dirt, seeds & other fun materials. These hand-crafted gardens will be fantastic tools to use to teach how new plants grow throughout the spring season. Workshop III.Hatchlings Everywhere we look we new life. We’ll study adult birds, hatchlings & nesting patterns during this time of year. Then we’ll concoct our own hatchling creations using many multi-media sources & create warm homes for the birds. Workshop II. Insects A vital part of spring, insects help breath life into the ecosystem in the spring. We will sing songs, read books, have puppet shoes about insects. We’ll build out own insects using paper mache techniques. Workshop II. Baby Animals Cubs, lambs, piglets, cria, calves, foals, baby animals are everywhere! Using mixed-media teachniques we’ll recreate the newness of life & adorable baby animals! Contact Information for Sundancer.
