  3. continent • A large body of land • There are 7 on our planet, Earth

  4. ocean • Large body of water • Largest bodies of water on Earth • 4 oceans on Earth

  6. globe • A sphere shaped model of the Earth • A 3D map of the Earth

  7. island • A body of land completely surrounded by water

  8. sphere • A 3D shape, looks like a ball

  9. hemisphere • Half of a sphere • Half of the Earth • Earth can be cut into four hemispheres Northern, Southern, Eastern, Western

  10. Lines of Latitude • Imaginary lines (drawn on maps and globes) that run from east to west {horizontally} across the globe • Also known as parallels

  11. Equator • A line of latitude that divides the Earth in half • Cut Earth into two hemispheres [Northern and Southern]

  12. Lines of Longitude • Imaginary lines (lines that are drawn on maps and globes) that run from north to south {vertically} • Also known as meridians

  14. North America • Continent that the United States is on

  15. South America • Continent that is South of North America

  16. Asia • Largest continent on Earth

  17. Europe • Continent that is “connected” to Asia • Continent that has countries such as, England, Italy, Spain as part of it

  19. Antarctica • Continent that the South Pole is found on • Penguins live here!

  20. Africa • Continent that is the second largest • Home of many “safari” animals
