Why an EEIG? • European Economic Interest Grouping of economically and legally independent SMEs • Specifically designed to participate in public contracts and programmes financed by public funds • EEIG = joint venture = consortium = registered company acting as the sum of its members • Equal footing with large corporations for tendering and participation in public procurement • No additional partner needed e.g. for participation in EU programmes • Unlimited joint and several liability eases obtaining credit (by overall assessment of the solvency of the grouping)
