  1. THE BEATLES By: Lauren Ballentine, Mark Sherman, Mackenzie Mason, and Jackson Boyd

  2. How did the band form?

  3. In the beginning, John Lennon had a band of his own. • Lennon’s band was named The Quarry Men at the time that he met Paul McCartney, on July 6, 1957. He eventually asked him to join the band, and McCartney accepted. As they grew, McCartney recommended his friend, George Harrison. After he auditioned, he joined the band.

  4. The band went through many phases. • They also went through many names. They were first called Johnny and the Moondogs. Then the Silver Beetles, next The Beatals, The Silver Beatles, and finally the group decided on The Beatles, which, they kept.

  5. They had members that they did not keep. • Members of The Beatles that didn’t stay include: • Stuart Sutcliffe- who played the bass guitar • Pete Best- who played the drums • And Brian Epstein, who was their manager. • The members of the band who are most widely known are John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.

  6. Why? • Why did the band break up?

  7. Different interests? The Beatles slowly developed different interests and music styles. Ringo wanted to write and develop his own music but was too scared to do so. The others were starting to get their own tastes and styles of music and the band went downhill form there.

  8. Brian Epstein dead? The Beatles took a sharp turn downhill when their manager died. Brian managed everything and worked hard on the Beatles image. They trusted each other but when he died it started falling apart.

  9. Wanted to play different music A while after their manager died the Beatles members started producing their own music. George started to feel neglected and Ringo was too insecure to talk and produce his own music. Paul is upset with new producer and has been writing other songs with John. Eventually they developed different tastes in their own music and started focusing on their own careers.
