  1. When Was Feminist Theory Developed? • Feminst theory first emerage as early as 1792 in publications such as “The Changing Woman”, “Ain’t I a Woman”, “Speech after Arrest for Illegal Voting (Wikipedia, History of the feminist theory)

  2. Why was Feminist Theory Developed? • Feminist theory is one of the major contemporary sociological theories, which analyzes the status of women and men in society with the purpose of using that knowledge to better women's lives. Feminist theorists have also started to question the differences between women, including how race, class, ethnicity, and age intersect with gender. Feminist theory is most concerned with giving a voice to women and highlighting the various ways women have contributed to society. (About.com/sociology, Feminist Theory)

  3. Judith Sargent Murray • Judith Sargent Murray (1751–1820) was an early American advocate for women's rights, an essayist, playwright, poet, and letter writer. She was one of the first American proponents of the idea of the equality of the sexes—that women, like men, had the capability of intellectual accomplishment and should be able to achieve economic independence. Her landmark essay "On the Equality of the Sexes," published in the Massachusetts Magazine in March and April 1790 predated Mary Wollstonecraft's A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, which was published in Britain in 1792 and in Philadelphia in 1794. 4. Mary Wollstonecraft • The first person who was a huge influence on the Feminism and the Feminist Theory is Mary Wollstonecraft. She was born in 1759 which was an error where feminism really was not even thought of because it was such a new idea to everyone. Most females were limited to very few options for their career or job. These jobs might include, a lady's comapanion, a schoolteacher, or a governess. She was supported by very few especially considering her financial standpoint. She was the pioneering feminist.(Purdue,1). • Mary Wollstonecraft brought the Feminist Theory into literary studies throught the novels and things she wrote. her writings reflected on the status of the female sex in society. She tried to get peole to understand the inequality of it all and why it should be changed. Her background education was not at all what it could have been which inspired her to write her first book on the education of daughters. Her first book "The Vindication Of The Rights Of Women" not only affected the theory of feminism but also inspired other moves such as shaping the art of travel writing as a literary genre and the Romantic movement. (Purdue,2). (Wikipedia,1)
