  2. Team Registration • Registration provides space assignment and budget • How to register- Go To COE Web site • http://coe.fit.edu/srproject.html • Purchase forms and reimbursement are also at this site

  3. Machine Shop Hours • NO student is allowed in the shop without supervision • Is open from 8 AM to 5 PM • Special consideration has been given to early morning training • Training classes are filling up • Hours will be extended in the Spring • Sat. and Sunday with notice • Need 48 hour notice

  4. Space Allocations • Space is allocated by Stephanie Hopper • 6 large student project bays are located in or by 538. • Space is requested by completing the project registration form.

  5. Incident Review • Last year 2 of 3 incidents involved senior projects. • Safety comes before project completion. • Read and follow the MSDS

  6. Wasted Disposal • Ask Greg Peebles or Stephanie Hopper before bringing a material in to Fl Tech • General rules and locations of waste disposal/collection are posted in 538

How to Dispose of Waste Building 538 Metal shavings and scrap pieces Oil Absorbent materials Used Oil: Motor oil, machine oil, machine coolant, ect Water based cleaners: Zep products, metal cleaners, ect.. Solvents, - non halogenated: IPA, Acetone, MEK, paint thinner, ect.. Dispose of by draining in red can for Solvent Waste” in shed or composite lab Contact Director of Labs for written procedure on disposal Dispose of by draining in 30 drum for “USED OIL” in shed Dispose of in red can for “OILY WASTE” in shop Collect in plastic 55 gal drums in shop When full call John Czekanskii X7288 to schedule pick up When full call Greg Peebles for pick up When full call Greg Peebles for pick up When full call Greg Peebles for pick up If it is not washing your hands…Don’t wash it down the sink.

How to Dispose of Waste Building 538 Batteries: All types Empty or near empty cans for paint, resin, solvent, etc… Waste plastics: Blue foam, Plexiglas, etc Old or broken electronic parts Aerosol cans – empty or unwanted Composite waste and solid organics Tape or seal battery connections or ends Dispose of by dropping them off at property manager – in shipping and receiving Dispose of in red lift top cans labeled “SOLID ORGANIC WASTE” Collect in self unit in shed. Call Greg Peebles for pick-up For Oil soaked material - disposed of as “OILY WASTE” Collect in self unit in shed. Call Greg Peebles for pick-up Dispose of in screw top cans labeled “BATTERIES” in shed” Empty full cans into 55 gal drum in shed For non-oily material, Contact Director of Labs for written procedure on disposal When full call Greg Peebles for pick up When full call Greg Peebles for pick up

Budget • Each team has money from COE • Budgets are not finalized until all the teams are registered • Within 2 weeks teams will be given their budget – Unregistered teams get $0 • Teams have already started fund raising • Do not approach donors without authorization • E-mail shopper@fit.edu with request • Sponsorship packages are also available • Teams expecting to travel must notify COE on the team registration form.

  10. Reimbursement • Parts orders are made using the Purchase Request form found on the website. • Reimbursement for parts bought by the students is limited to $50.

  11. Travel • Must be planed with University Insurance carrier • Must have proof of health coverage • Movement of projects to events will use university supplied transportation • Travel by students must be pre-coordinated with COE

  12. Showcase • Friday April 3rd (Early this year) • You are responsible for project set –up and tear down • Tear down is Saturday • Team members are requested to be present Saturday • Judging will be done Friday • Awards will be presented Friday • Posters are kept for display in Olin after the Showcase

  13. Requirements • Display Poster • Project Summary for showcase brochure • Due Spring semester • Summary becomes the Showcase Brochure and is used during judging.
