  2. MSM HIV epidemic in China Number of newly diagnosed HIV MSM cases increase rapidly, HIV prevalence among MSM continues to increase.

National MSM Initiatives • NationalComprehensive Prevention and Care Pilot Program among MSM. • Implemented in 61 cities in 2007-2009 • Know epidemic, Promote testing and condom use, Do Peer education and Linkage to treatment & care etc • 2. Scaling up of National MSM Initiative • - Since 2010 till now • - Set sentinel surveillance system • - Expand prevention and care service • to 3000 counties/districts

  4. Challenges low coverage low Condome Use Covered with Intervention Consistent condom use in last 6 months

Summary • HIV continues to spread among MSM in China. • China has made great efforts to expand effective measures targeting MSM, including peer education, condom promotion, HIV testing and ART. • Although tremendous efforts made, China faces challenges of low intervention coverage and condom use among MSM;

  6. Rolling out WHO KP guidelines • Need local language guidelines for KP • Learn from what we are doing now, strengthen the combination prevention strategy • Demonstration studies are needed for implantation effectiveness • MSM community involvement and motivated to play key role for epidemic control among them
