  2. The history of the Pledge of Allegiance • The pledge was founded August 1892 by Francis Bellamy • It originally did not have “Under God” in it. • Under God was not added until 1954

  3. Francis Bellamy • He was a minster • In 1892 he was asked to write an article for a magazine called "The Youth's Companion." • That article later became the Pledge of Allegiance.

  5. The Pledge doesn’t mandate a Religion • It is not a Prayer. • It is a true statement • Everyone is “under god” • If you don’t want to say under God in the Pledge DON’T say Under God
