Charlottesville Education Foundation. Current Structure. Status of PEF. Recently Restructured
E N D
Status of PEF • Recently Restructured • Board of Directors to include state officials, representatives from school divisions’ governance and leadership, business community leaders, UVA educators, public education advocates and individuals representing interests of school divisions. • Committees to be established for CCS and ACPS. • Focus is to offer foundation support to each division individually and to offer an innovative joint fund
Established Protocol Charlottesville will have a separate committee—Charlottesville Fund Committee (CFC). The CFC will follow Articles and By-Laws established by PEF.* The CFC will decide how to distribute its funds. Donors may restrict and designate money for projects. Governance of the CFC will follow guidelines for all non-profit organizations. CFC Chair will be a voting member of PEF.
Leadership of PEF and CFC • PEF • PEF will hire an Executive Director who will promote joint ventures between the City and the County. • The Executive Director may promote the work of CFC. • CFC • Charlottesville City School Board may consider employing a .5 position for development for CFC.* • Once the Committee is established, the Committee will select a Chair.
Considerations for CCS School Board • Leadership of CFC • .5 Development Position? • Current staff or new position? • Ex-officio member of CFC or voting member? • Membership of CFC • Number and Types of Members? • Business/Community/School Board? • (Research of other Foundations—14-16 members with School Board representative, Superintendent other division staff)
Considerations for CCS School Board • Appointment of Members to CFC • Initial Appointment and Subsequent Appointments • Charlottesville School Board Appointment? • PEF Appointment? • Term Length of Members • Number of Years and Terms (ex. 3 or 4 years)? • Staggered Terms?
