  4. Fairfax County Relocation • Initial objective was to compare Arlington county to Fairfax county GIS data to derive the best place to live. • Out of scope for my GIS management goal. • Did attain GS data • Next objective was to focus solely on Fairfax County

  5. Evaluation Criteria • High school for my son • Trails/side walks for running • Safe neighborhood • Parks • Convenience • Commute time

  11. Summary/Conclusion • Current location meets needs • School, trails, commute, safety, parks and convenience • Found an alternate living location that could meet needs • Commute would be longer at this time • Safety and quality schools are unknown

Improvements • Need a greater understanding of individual schools • Should have found Metro information • Crime statistics would have been helpful • Nice to have found better trail shape files • Did not clearly define my search criteria • Subjective • Did not add cost as a factor to decision making

  14. Future Work • Define measurable values • Analyze imagery first and then ground truth point targets • Finish reviewing Arlington data • Collect or find rent and home value data to import in to GIS or existing map • Take more time to modify shape files for specific objective
