  1. VOCATIONAL TRAINING AT BSNL DURG ASSIGNMENT TITLE : MLLN ASSINGNMENT GROUP : 8 BY AAFREEN HAQUE AANCHAL MISHRA ANKITA NAMDEO SAGAR LUNIYA GAJENDRA KUMAR SAHU

  2. INDEX Drawback of traditional leased line circuits What is MLLN Advantages Types Keys element of MLLN MLLN nodes Application Summary

  3. DRAWBACK OF TRADITIONAL LEASED LINE CIRCUITS Grew from 64 kbps they have to jump over to 2 Mbps only. Data Cards support only up to 64 Kbps From Operator pt of view in case of Leased Line Circuit different boxes from different vendors so difficult to manage & control. No Centralized Monitoring or alarm or performance monitoring. Therefore we should have a control to all this, we are able to identify before the customer know which circuit has gone faulty The solution to this is MLLN

  4. WHAT IS MLLN • MLLN stands for Managed Leased Line Network • It provides variable bandwidth leased line connectivity. • The State-of-the art technology equipment MLLN is designed mainly for having effective control. • Because of that down time is very much minimized and the circuit efficiency is increased thus achieving more customer satisfaction. • This mainly supports with data circuits ranging from 64 KBPs to 2048 KBPs.

  5. MLLN ADVANTAGES • 24 hrs performance monitoring of the circuit. • Circuit fault reports generated proactively(before customer know we should detect the fault & rectify it). • On demand the bandwidth can be increased. (Without changing the MODEM recreate the circuit with the same MODEM. • Low lead time for new circuit provisioning. (Create & debug if any fault). • Long drive on single copper pair.( For 64 kbps – 7 kames & for 2mbps – 3.5 kames) • Saving the cost of modems, NTU is provided by BSNL without any charges.

  6. TYPES OF MLLN There are basically two types of MLLN circuits- • Point to point circuit • Point to multipoint circuit

  7. POINT TO POINT CONNECTIVITY • Local and Long Distance Typically, leased lines are used by businesses to connect geographically distant offices. Unlike dial-up connections, a leased line is always active. • More than one Local or Long Distance leased circuits converging on a location such that data from one leased circuit can be transferred automatically to another leased circuit for the same subscriber.

  8. 2. POINT TO MULTI POINT CIRCUITS • In telecommunications, point-to-multipoint communication is communication which is accomplished via a distinct type of one-to-many connection, providing multiple paths from a single location to multiple locations. • Point to multi-point networks are used to connect one location to one or more remote locations. The below diagram shows three connected multi-user networks (using a Hub or Switch). Any location may be configured as a Direct connection (without a Hub or Switch)

  9. Point-to-multipoint telecommunications is most typically (2003) used in wireless Internet and IP telephony via gigahertz radio frequencies. A central antenna or antenna array broadcasts to several receiving antennas and the system uses a form of time-division multiplexing to allow for the back-channel traffic. • Air-Frame 100 at location B can be used to create many, co-located point to multi-point networks or cells. • P2MP systems have been designed both as single and bi-directional systems.

  10. KEY ELEMENTS OF MLLN • MLLN nodes • Servers • Workstations • Networking equipment • Others (printers, UPS etc) • Ras • Firewall • Remote operator terminal connectivity equipment • Grooming mux at main and DR sites • Connectivity equipments at remote sites

  11. MLLN NODES MLLN nodes • DXC (Digital Cross-Connect) • VMUX (Versatile Multiplexer) • NTU (Network Terminating Unit) • NMS ( Network Management system) Servers • Database Server • NMS Application Servers • Billing and Accounting Servers • Web Self Care Servers • Proxy servers

  12. Workstations • Local operator terminals • Remote operator terminals • Networking Equipment • Router • LAN Switch • RAS • Firewall • Remote Operator Terminal Connectivity Equipment • Grooming Mux at Main and DR Sites • Connectivity equipments at Remote Sites • Others • Un-interrupted power supply • Printers • Messaging System

  13. NETWORK TERMINATING UNIT • Capacity • 64/128kbps NTU with V.35 • 64/128kbps NTU with G.703 • N x 64kbps NTU with V.35 • N x 64kbps NTU with G.703 • N x 64kbps NTU with Ethernet interface • NTU to send power off signal to the NMS at the time of NTU getting switched off. • STU-160 works up to 128kbps • CTU-S and CTU-R works up to 2Mbps on a single pair of copper

  14. APPLICATION OF MLLN • Corporate high speed internet access through Broadband. • LAN interconnection. • Hotline connectivity for voice. • Point to point connection for data circuit. • Point to multipoint connection. • EPABX Interconnection. • VPN on MLLN Network. • Extension of VPN (MPLS) to Customer.

  15. SUMMARY • MLLN is a variable network. • It is a fully integrated circuit which provide multi service network. • It provides high speed & reliability. • It is available for 24 hours. • Its bandwidth can be increased.
