A Modern Pilgrim's Journey: The Canterbury Remix

Step into a contemporary rendition of Chaucer's timeless tale with our project, "Canterbury Remix." Create a unique pilgrim character through engaging poetry in couplets, describing their personality, attire, and trade across at least sixteen lines. Embrace creativity by illustrating your character using diverse tools, ensuring your piece stands out and resonates with the modern world. Together, we’ll explore themes and storytelling that unite this eclectic group of travelers on their pilgrimage to a shared destination.

  1. Canterbury PilgrimDue October 5 • Create a contemporary pilgrim • Write in poetry form (couplets) a description of your character just as Chaucer did with at least sixteen lines • Make sure you are descriptive from personality to dress to trade • Type your character’s description • On a separate sheet of computer paper, draw your character. Be creative and do not just copy and paste from the computer. You may use a variety of tools to create this character if you are not artistic, but do not just copy and paste an actor from the computer. • Your character must be colored

  2. Canterbury Remix- Honors Only Your task for this project is to create (as a class) a contemporary version of The Canterbury Tales. This means thinking of a fictional scenario in which a group of diverse people find themselves traveling together for several days toward a common destination. It also means deciding on a theme for the competitive story-telling element, and creating your own character and rhyming story.
