  2. Qualifications • Education • Minimum of a Bachelors degree in a natural science or a Criminalistics program • Experience • Minimum of 5 yrs. experience in a Forensic Lab doing actual casework • Court testimony experience as an expert witness in each area of expertise

Qualifications Cont’d • Knowledge • Must have a working knowledge of ASCLD-LAB Lab operational requirements essential to maintaining the lab’s quality system and maintaining lab accreditation • Must have the ability to operate and perform basic maintenance of analytical instrumentation necessary to perform analyses in the appropriate areas of expertise required • Must use generally accepted analytical procedures in the routine analysis of evidence • Must be capable of validating new procedures before using the procedures to analyze casework

  4. Duties • Analyze evidence • Testify in court as an expert witness • Prepare the annual lab budget request • Monitor lab expenditures • Maintain accreditation by the American Society of Crime Lab Directors-Lab Accreditation Board (ASCLD-LAB) • Oversee the daily operation of all lab activities • Produce accurate written reports for the submitting agencies • Do work required as Quality Manager and Safety Manager
