  3. Purpose • Establish and maintain a national PT program to support a national environmental laboratory accreditation program.

  4. Elements of Program • Ensure adequate oversight of PT providers • Establish Fields of Proficiency Testing • Matrices, analytes, concentrations, formulation recommendations, and acceptance limits • General management of program

  5. Oversight of PT Providers • Provide assistance to the TNI Board of Directors on the selection of Proficiency Testing Provider Accreditors (PTPA’s) • Evaluate new organizations seeking to become PTPA’s, and monitor existing PTPA’s to assure that they are following the requirements set forth by TNI

  6. Establish Fields of Proficiency Testing • Review & evaluate PT data for the purposes of determining the appropriateness of PT study formulations, concentrations, & acceptance limits • Provide recommendations to the NELAP Board as to PT study formulations, concentration ranges, and acceptance limits

  7. General Management • Facilitate an annual caucus on proficiency testing. • Serve as a review board for unresolved complaints about PT samples among environmental laboratories, accreditation bodies, PTPA’s, and PT Providers that the PTPA cannot resolve. • Represent TNI & assume a leadership role, where appropriate, in activities involving national & international PT standards development & implementation of PT programs • ANSI International Conformity Assessment Committee (ICAC)
