  2. FAULTS... imperfections in character A FAULT can be …. • a bad habit • a character weakness • a personality flaw

  3. Although a fault may not be a sin, it is an area of weakness that the Devil can use to attack.  It is the fault line, or fracturein a person’s character. 

  4. 2 Corinthians 13:5…. “Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine.  Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you. If not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.” (NLT)

  5. 1. 2. 3. As MATURING CHRISTIANS, we must learn 3 things!

  6. MAIN POINTS: 1. RECOGNIZE Your Faults

  7. To RECOGNIZE your faults... HUMBLE yourself DISCIPLINE yourself EXAMINE yourself

  8. We must be able to RECOGNIZEour faults in order to deal with them. Note: RECOGNIZING precedes healing!

  9. The American Journal of Medicine states.... “The health of the 21st century American will no longer be determined by what the people can get the doctors to do for them. …

  10. The American Journal of Medicine states.... … The health of the 21st century American will be determined by what the doctors can get the people to do for themselves.”

  11. When there is a PROBLEM or FAULT, we need to RECOGNIZE it, or we will be blind to what God wants us to work on.  

  12. John 9:40…. “ (v.40) Some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard Him say this and asked, ‘What? Are we blind too?’ (v.41) Jesus said, ‘If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin, but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.” (NIV)

  13. It is NOT sin that destroys God’s people.  It is unresolved sin that destroys them! 

  14. Titus 1:12,13…. “ (v.12) One of their own prophets has said. “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.’  (v.13) This testimony is true.  Therefore, rebuke them sharply so they will be sound in faith.” (NIV)

  15. When God shows our faults to us, it is for a reason. He wants to use our faults to build up our character. 

  16. Mark 7:21…. “ (v.12)For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery.” (NIV)

  17. 2. EMPHASIZE His Lead

  18. The Lord knows our faults and future! By submitting to God’s direction and leadership HE WILL WORK WITH US TO OVERCOME OUR FAULTS.

  19. God’s goal for us is to DISCERN HIS VOICE, so we can cooperate with him. 

  20. Philippians 3:8…. “Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.  For His sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ.” (NLT)

  21. 3. God Will MAXIMIZE Your Obedience

  22. Romans 8:28…. “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (NASB)

  23. Note: Whatever the Devil uses, God will MAXIMIZE it for good!

  24. Prioritize the fault that God is showing you.  He will work withyou,strengthen you and turn that fault into an asset. God will locate what He wants you to work on.

  25. Note: He’ll work with you, as long as you emphasize His lead and in obedience prioritize and begin to overcome your fault.

  26. Why? …. because God loves us and He wants us to follow better!

  27. CONCLUSION: When we…. RECOGNIZE our faults & EMPHASIZE His lead….

  28. MAXIMIZE God will our OBEDIENCE… converting our fault into an asset, and our weakness into strength! Amen!
