Breast cancer is known as the cancer that grow up in the cells of breasts. Breast cancer is the most typical cancer detected in the women. We are celebrating October month as the breast cancer awareness month. It helps the women to get more information about the breast cancer. DDRC SRL diagnostics center in Kerala provides free mammography campaigns for the women in Kerala in this breast cancer awareness month.

  2. What Is Cancer? Cancer is a dreadful disease in which the abnormal cells starts to grow uncontrollably and destroy the body tissues. Cancer can start anywhere in the human body like mouth, lungs, breast, colon, ovary, even in blood, etc. Cells are the most important part of human body. Normal cells will die when they are damaged and new cells take their places. Cancer is the condition when the cancerous cells are grow out of control and they crowd out the normal cells. The cancerous cells can spread to any part of the body. ❏ ❏ ❏ ❏ ❏

  3. Breast Cancer Breast cancer is known as the cancer that grow up in the cells of breasts. Breast cancer is the most typical cancer detected in the women. We are celebrating October month as the breast cancer awareness month. It helps the women to get more information about the breast cancer. Now the number of death by breast cancer gradually decreased because of the advanced treatment & early detection. Each of the women must aware about their breast health, changes, etc to secure from breast cancer. ❏ ❏ ❏ ❏ ❏

  4. Breast Anatomy The major parts of breasts are Lobe, Duct, Nipple, Areola & Lymph nodes. Each breast has 15 to 20 lobes that surrounds the nipple like a wheel spokes. The lobes are further divided into smaller sections called lobules. It will produce milk for breastfeeding. The lobules are connected to small tubes called ducts. These ducts will carry the milk towards nipple. Areola is the dark area that surrounds the nipple in the center. The areola contains small glands and it will helps to lubricate the nipple during breastfeeding. Breasts also contains blood vessels & lymphatic nodes.   6. Types Of Breast Cancer ● Angiosarcoma ● Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) ● Inflammatory breast cancer ● Invasive lobular carcinoma ● Lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) ● Male breast cancer ● Paget’s disease of the breast ● Recurrent breast cancer

  7. Symptoms Of Breast Cancer ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Breast lump or thickening tissue. Variation in size, shape & appearance. Breast pain. Color changes of breast. Inverted nipple. Peeling, scaling or flaking of the skin. Discharge of blood from the nipple. Swelling on the breast.

  8. Risk Factors ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Simply being women. Increase in age. Having dense breast tissue. Variations in genes. Early menstruation. Inherited genes. Having early breast cancer history. Obesity. ● ● ● ● Radiation exposure. Never being pregnant. Latest menopause. Alcohol use.

  9. Prevention ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Do exercises in most of days in a week. Maintain a healthy body. Balanced diet. Avoid alcohol consumption. Do breast screening test as the doctor’s prescription. Self exams of your breast. Breast cancer awareness.

Diagnosis Of Breast Cancer We can diagnose breast cancer at the earliest by using the followed tests. ● Mammogram - Mammogram is an imaging test that will detect any tumor or cancerous spot on the breast at the earliest. Ultrasound - Ultrasound uses sound waves to examine the tissue in the breast. Breast biopsy - If both mammogram & ultrasound can’t find the cancer, the doctor will prescribe breast biopsy. ● ●
