Things to Remember when Running Screens • Run Screens even when they do not work • Run Screens early in Game • Throw a Screen on Short Yardage • Throw a Screen when Coming out • Throw a Screen when going in • It is just long lateral • Get the ball in Playmakers Hands Quick and Often • Get in the Defense Lineman Head

  3. Things that you need to be a Great Screen Team • Rules for Receivers ( Catch Ball and get up field for 5 yards before making a move) • Athletic Lineman that will run and get in someone’s way • Teach Cage drill to your Lineman • Receivers must be good blockers and want to block • Be unselfish

  4. Fast Screens • QB grip and rip it. Like a shortstop turning a double play • Receivers get up field 5 yards before making a move • Flash Zone away • Teach Receivers to take good angle for blocks • Lineman get your picture in the paper

  5. Fast Screens • Same blocking for every fast screen • Bubble if 1st inside Receiver • Step Motion if going to back

  17. Don’t Forget to Fox Them!!! • When you have them running hard to screens and coming up hard then run Fox • Keep Lineman in but make a good fake on Solid or Fast Screen • Receiver make great fake and put hands up like catching a Screen • Many Ways to run Fox

  20. Review about Screens • Throw Early in the game • Teach them to get 5 yards before making a move • Teach Receivers to be Great Blockers • It is a long hand off • Throw when not working • After you get them running, Throw Fox at them

  21. 5 P’s of Coaching • Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance • Always have a plan • Try to write it down • When game planning think situations (3rd and long, 3rd and short, desperation, coming out, going in, 2 pt plays, Overtime) • Have a set of plays for back up QB • Have a change up Offense

Last Thing • Make sure you communicate your plan • Know when to listen • Get Rid of your Ego • Know when not to listen • Manage the game (what is best for your team) • Always be thinking ahead • Do not out coach yourself • Get Ball into PLAY MAKERS hands often • Keep a touch chart on sideline • Keep a chart of all plays run and halftime highlight the ones that are 5 yards or more and call them again.
