Session 1 • Purpose of the Class: • STRENGTHEN your faith and confidence in God’s word • PROVIDE witnessing tools • What does God’s Word say? • Ex 31:17 “…for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth,” • This happened very “recently” • What does evolution say? The common descent of all life on earth from a single ancestor via undirected mutation and natural selection.

  5. Session 1 (Cont) • There are only two theories: • Creation • Evolution • The other (so called “theories”) are: • Theological attempts to embrace the Bible and evolution. • They did not come from “science” • Does it matter? • YES!!!

Session 1 (Cont) If God Created us— • HE and only He makes the rules. • There are absolutely “absolutes.” (Rights and wrongs.) • The concept of “authority” is authorized, mandated, and directed under His domain. • Sickness and death are a consequence of sin. • Sin has eternal consequences. • The Bible is fully reliable. • Salvation is provided by Christ.

  7. Session 1 (Cont) If We Evolved— • WE and only WE make the rules. • There are no “absolutes.” • The word “authority” has no meaning outside of voluntary submission. (“Voluntary submission is in serious conflict with “Survival of the Fittest.”) • You have no purpose in life - other than your own self satisfaction. • The Bible is not credible. • The concept of “salvation” is irrelevant.

Session 7 • Global Warming • We absolutely ARE accountable to God for our stewardship of His great gift to us. • As responsible Christians we must address it in a responsible manner. • We must not fall prey to doomsayers promoting a “sustainable environment”, politicians fighting turf wars, the media trying to give us an unwarranted guilt trip, or bad science promoting fantasies. • a) The earth “might” be getting warmer. b) However, the earth is very stable (self healing) c) If it is getting warmer, there is practically nothing you can do to prevent it.

Conclusions • We have discussed (to some degree) ALL of the common creation/evolution questions • ALL of science truly points to our Creator • Our Bible (God’s Word) is 100% reliable • We should never be intimidated by evolutionary dogma • Our faith need never be compromised by evolutionary dogma • How and what we believe determines our actions and worldview • We must convey this to our children as they will never get it from the media/schools around them • In today’s society, we can also use this info as a witnessing tool
