A new Specialist Support Service in welfare benefits provided by CPAG and LASA begins on 1 June 2004. Funded by the Legal Services Commission, the service can be used by any organisation in England with a CLS General Civil Contract or Quality Mark (at Specialist or General Help with Casework level, in any area of law).
Telephone Advice: The service gives you access to a dedicated telephone Helpline, for advice or information about any matter relating to welfare benefits or tax credits.
Support with casework: We can also provide ongoing support with individual cases. This could include advice on how to argue and pursue a case, research on legislation and case law, and checking letters and submissions. To use the service, call the above Helplines. We can also take on a limited number of complex cases, where the client is eligible for legal funding. Contact the above Helplines for more details.
Training. We provide training on benefits and tax credits in each LSC Region at a subsidised rate. All courses attract CPD points. Please see our separate training leaflet or contact your LSC Regional Office for details.
