  2. WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES • The Winter Olympic Gamesis a major international sporting event that occurs once every four years. The first Winter Olympics, the 1924 Winter Olympics, was held in Chamonix, France. The original 6 sports were bobsleigh, curling, military patro, ice hockey, Nordic skiing and skating.

  3. Figure skating Figure skating is a sport and activity in which individuals, duos, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. It was the first winter sport included in the Olympics, in 1908. The sport is also associated with show business. Major competitions generally conclude with exhibition galas, in which the top skaters from each discipline perform non-competitive programs. Many skaters, both during and after their competitive careers, also skate in ice shows which run during the competitive season and the off-season.

  4. Carolina kostner,an Italian figure skating Carolina Kostner is an Italian figure skater. She is the 2012 World champion, a five-time European champion. Carolina Kostner was born in Bolzano, Italy and lives in Urtijëi. She began skating at age 4.

  5. skiing Skiing is a recreational activity and competitive sport in which the participant attaches skis to boots or shoes on the feet and uses them to travel on top of snow. Many types of competitive skiing events are recognized by the International Olympic Committee, and the International Ski Federation. The oldest and most accurately documented evidence of skiing origins is found in modern day Norway and Sweden.

  6. Ice hockey Ice hockey is a team sport played on ice . A similar game had been played for a thousand years or more by the Vikings, as documented in the Icelandic sagas.

  7. Ski jumping Ski jumping is a sport in which skiers go down a take-off ramp, jump, and attempt to impress judges, who give points for style. Ski jumping as a sport originated in Norway.

  8. skeleton Skeleton is a fast winter sliding sport in which a person rides a small sled down a frozen track while lying face down, during which the rider experiences forces up to 5g and reaches speeds over 130 km/h

  9. snowboarding Snowboarding or board snowing is a winter sport that involves descending a slope that is covered with snow while standing on a board attached to a rider's feet, using a special boot set into a mounted binding. The development of snowboarding was inspired by skateboarding, sledding, surfing and skiing. It was developed in the United States in the 1960s and became a Winter Olympic Sport in 1998
