  2. Glossary of Terms • Masculinity – the qualities traditionally associated with being a man • Literal – the exact or most basic interpretation of a text/ image. What you actually see or read. • TASK: Write down the literal elements of each imagebelow. • Connotation – the implied, suggested or symbolic meaning of a text or image. Looking for a deeper meaning. • TASK: Write down the connotations associated with the images below.

  3. Glossary of Terms • Stereotype – a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person. • Remember we looked at the following stereotypes last term: • TASK: What stereotypes exist about Australian men? • Read newspaper article.
