This report presents the findings from a survey assessing forensic evidence collection policies and systems across various states and territories, gathering insights from 60 respondents. It reveals significant variability in critical areas, such as first responder identity, kit tracking mechanisms, narrative collection responsibilities, and evidence storage and transportation. The survey also looks into the processing of anonymous cases through CODIS and examines challenges related to SAFE exam time limits, storage limitations, and state tracking of anonymous cases. These insights aim to enhance practices and policies in forensic evidence collection.
