  2. บทนิยาม • ให้ f:A  B และ g : B  C • ฟังก์ชันคอมโพสิท (composite function) ของฟังก์ชัน f และ g เขียนแทนด้วย gof คือ ความสัมพันธ์ ซึ่งกำหนดโดย • (gof)(a) = g(f(a))

  3. เพราะว่า f เป็นฟังก์ชัน ดังนั้น f(a) จะประกอบด้วยสมาชิกเพียงตัวเดียวเท่านั้น คือ b  B • และ g(f(a)) = g(b) จะประกอบด้วยสมาชิกเพียงตัวเดียวเช่นกัน เพราะ g เป็นฟังก์ชัน • ดังนั้น (gof)เป็นฟังก์ชัน เพราะ (gof)(a) มีสมาชิกเพียงตัวเดียว

  5. ตัวอย่าง1 • ให้ A = B = I และ C เป็นเซตของจำนวนคู่ • กำหนดฟังก์ชัน f:AB และ g:BC ดังนี้ • f(a) = a+ 1 และ g(b) = 2b จงหา gof • gof = g(f(a)) • = g(a+1) • = 2(a+1) • = 2a + 2

  6. ตัวอย่าง2 • ให้ A = B = I และ C เป็นเซตของจำนวนคู่ • กำหนดฟังก์ชัน f:AB และ g:BC ดังนี้ • f(a) = a+ 1 และ g(b) = 2b จงหา gof(3) • gof(3) = g(f(3)) • = g(3+1) • = g(4) • = 2(4) = 8

  7. ตัวอย่าง3 • ให้ A = B = I และ C เป็นเซตของจำนวนคู่ • กำหนดฟังก์ชัน f:AB และ g:BC ดังนี้ • f(a) = a+ 1 และ g(b) = 2b จงหา fog(3) • fog(3) = f(g(3)) • = f(2(3)) • = f(6) • = 6+1 = 7 • จากตัวอย่างจะเห็นว่า gof  fog
