Navigation Research and Development Lock Operations Management Application (LOMA) Goal: Provide end users with information needed for decision support to improve waterway safety, efficiency and reliability • AIS to the lock: Vessel locations • AIS to the vessel: Lock status, queue, weather, currents • Automate data collection • Requirements developed with input from Industry • Prototype AIS equipment assembly • Next steps: Deploy AIS equipment to LOMA beta test sites; • Begin beta testing September 2010
