  3. Description • What can you learn from the title of the artwork? Joshua used a lot of shapes and different types of colors in his artwork. 2. What subjects in the artwork can you recognize? His artwork is abstract, and the subject is the circle. • Looking at the elements of design, describe what qualities you see: -line: the curvy lines create movement -shape: triangle, circle, swirls -color: blue, red, pink, black, orange, brown, white, yellow, and purple -value: by looking at this artwork he makes the edges dark and light. -space: I see the spaces in the artwork, and the yellow triangle spreads across the paper. 4. What media and techniques did the artist use? This artist used dark colors, paint and he blended the paint.

  4. Analysis • Emphasis: in the artwork my eyes see the edges of the painting. • Balance: the artworks balance is in the middle of the painting. • Proportion: the proportion is not realistic its abstract. • Pattern: the swirls are repeated. • Rhythm or Movement: the big swirls. • Unity and variety: the swirls and the big triangle bring the artwork together.

  5. Interpretation • Is there symbolism in the artwork? What do you think it means? • There are swirls which makes me think scary and there are triangle which make me think chips. • What feeling do you think the artist wanted to give the viewer when looking at the work? • I believe he wanted to give off a dark kind of mysterious feeling. • Does the work remind you of other things you have experienced? • No this artwork does not remind me of any experience I’ve ever had in life. • How does the work relate to other ideas or events in the world and/or in your other classes? • Some people in the world are very scary and other people in my school have dark imaginations.

  6. Judgment • What parts of the work make you feel it is a success or failure? • This work is a success. To me it relates a lot to real life. • What criteria (think of the style of the work) can you list to help others judge this work? • Look at the lines and focus on the picture in the middle and maybe look along the edges of the picture. • How unique is the work? Why do you feel this work is or isn’t unique? • This work is very unique. I feel this is very unique because it tells a story. • What are some improvements you feel the artist could have made to the work? • There are no improvements he needs to make its an awesome artwork.
