  3. Program Overview An academia/industry partnership where educators work within aviation organizations to mutually benefit both parties and provide an enhanced learning experience for students

  4. Program Goal To Enhance the partnership between Education and Industry and make both elements stronger through the sharing of information, knowledge and expertise.

  5. General Requirements • AABI-accredited program full-time faculty • Recommendation by department chair, dean or equivalent • Industry Partners – AABI Corporate or Trade Association Members or Governmental Agencies required

  6. Program Administration • Managed and administered by a Standing Committee selected by the AABI Chairman. • AABI President will supervise, guide and support the committee’s work. • Program’s description and content on AABI Website. • Industry Partner Posting and Faculty Application Process on AABI Website

  7. Outcome Requirement • Present at the AABI I/E forum • Spring 2013 – Beta Test of FDP • Kent Lovelace, University of North Dakota • Nancy Shane, Cape Air

Kent’s Objectives • Fresh perspective and revitalization • Update knowledge of airline issues/topics to bring back to the students • Improve mentorship of Cape Air/ JetBlue University Gateway Students • Work with a larger Part 121 regional airline (Horizon Air) to see what differences may exist

Cape Air’s Objectives • Gain knowledge and expertise from experienced AABI program faculty member • Share operational information that can be brought back to students at AABI program • Enhance partnership between industry and academia • Enhance relationship to improve JetBlue University Gateway Program experience

  11. Cape Air Schedule • Highlights: • Company and C402 Training • Observations of training and revenue flights • Chief Pilot discussions • SOC shadowing • Intermediate capacity planning • Safety reporting in WBAT System • Being considered part of the team

  12. Horizon Air Schedule • Highlights: • Operational reliability meetings • Operational Performance leadership team meeting • SMS process for beverage carts • Operational Specifications re-write • SOC Shadowing • Being considered part of the team

  13. Completed Projects • PIC Flight training Curriculum for a level 6 FTD • Data mining project to examine trends in check ride results • Feedback on training issues for Gateway interns
