  1. Space Data Link Security ProtocolCompatibility of Space Data Link Security protocol with TC, TM, AOS Space Data Link Protocols

  2. Position of SDLS protocol functions in TC SDLP internal stack

  3. Position of SDLS protocol functions in TC SDLP internal stack • Encryption/decryption : • applicable to frame data field only, either from the MAP service, packet service or from a private source (VCA service), • COP management service (2 types of commands : unlock, set V(r)) not protected, since they do not carry user sensitive data • Authentication / validation : • idea is to protect the full frame apart from the frame ECF and the COP control commands • rationale : COP control commands and ECF are used for transmission error detection and correction. This should be segregated from SDLS protocol security checks. Clear discrimination between transmission errors and security errors detection and reporting should be maintained.

  4. SDLS data format for TC

  5. Position of SDLS protocol functions in TM SDLP internal stack

  6. Position of SDLS protocol functions in TM SDLP internal stack • Encryption/decryption : • applicable to frame data field only, either from the packet service or from a private source (VCA service) • FSH and OCF left in the clear • Authentication / validation : • idea is to protect the full frame apart from the frame ECF and the OCF • ECF and OCF are linked to the error detection and correction of transmission error. Transmission checks should be completely segregated from security checks performed by SDLS protocol • FSH and OCF whether they are inserted at VC level or MC level

  7. SDLS data format for TM

  8. Position of SDLS protocol functions in AOS SDLP internal stack

  9. Position of SDLS protocol functions in AOS SDLP internal stack • Encryption/decryption : • applicable to frame data field only, either from the packet service or bitstream service or from a private source (VCA service) • OCF left in the clear • Authentication / validation : • idea is to protect the full frame apart from the frame ECF and the OCF • nevertheless, cannot protect the insert zone which is inserted synchronously when the transfer frame is sent to transmitter • insert service user should take care for its own data security (e.g. audio stream protection for confidentiality)

  10. SDLS data format for AOS
