  5. E quando ti corteggian liete le nubi estive e i zeffiri sereni,

  6. e quando dal nevoso aere

  7. inquïete tenebre e lunghe all’universo meni

  8. sempre scendi invocata,

  9. e le secrete vie del miocor soavemente tieni.

  10. Vagar mi fai co' miei pensier

  11. su l'orme che vanno al nulla eterno;

  12. e intanto fugge questo reo tempo,

  13. e van con lui le torme delle cure

  14. onde meco egli si strugge;

  15. e mentre io guardo la tua pace,
