  1. ¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español! HazAhora (La PrimeraActividad) Use the colored piece of paper that you were handed as you walked into the room to create a name tent. Fill out the Essential Information card and/or the Student Information sheet.

  2. Syllabus Review • What do you do in a Spanish class? • How will you be graded?

  3. Classroom Guidelines Guideline #2 Guideline #1 Be in your assigned seat working on theHaz Ahora when the bell rings. Take your assigned textbook from the book cart as you walk into the room each day.

  4. Guideline #3 Bring your notebook and all necessary materials to class and take them with you when you leave.

  5. Necessary Materials • A writing utensil, preferably a blue or black pen or a pencil • A dedicated notebook or section of a notebook or binder • A folder • A dry erase marker • A pack of 3” x 5” index cards (can be left at home)

  6. Guideline #4 Treat each person in this room with respect and dignity. Guideline #5 Follow directions the first time they are given.

  7. Guideline #6 Follow all procedures and policies as outlined in Jefferson Township High School handbook.

  8. Benefits of Procedures •  A stress-free learning environment •  A pleasant and orderly classroom atmosphere

  9. When you are late • Enter quietly • Excused: Hand the pass to the teacher. • Unexcused: Write out the circumstances that resulted in your lateness….place in the pink basket. • Have a seat andtake out your materials.

  10. Turning in Assignments Homework • Place your name on the assignments and put it in the pink bin. • If you are missing an assignment or receive a failing grade, you may resubmit the assignment for partial credit. (You will have one week.)

  11. Student Responsibility FormThis is for students who do not have the assigned homework • Fill it out • Sign and date it • Turn it in with the homework papers You need to complete a form for each assignment that is missing.

  13. Turning in Assignments Classwork • Place the assignments in the upper right hand corner of the desk until we are ready to turn them in. • Pass them forward to the student designated to clip them with a paperclip and place them in the pink Work bin.

  14. Turning in Assignments Projects and Presentations • Written projects follow the homework policy. If you want to email them to me, I must receive it by 7:30 AM on the day it is due. • Oral Presentations are due on the assignment date. If you are absent, you will not receive a grade on the assignment unless the absence is excused.

  15. Turning in Assignments Tests and Quizzes • Once you have finished, turn your paper face down and wait for others to finish. • When time is up, place your papers still face down on the corner of the desk. • Pass them forward following the classwork procedure.

  16. I have finished. I can… • Start working on my Spanish homework. • Finish some missing assignments. • Work on or Review my flashcards. • Organize my folder or binder. • Complete a review activity. • Read a book.

  17. When you return from being absent… • Go to the Were you absent? box. Find the folder for your class and take your missing assignments and/or handouts. • Arrangements can be made to stay after-school to make up any textbook work missed. • If there was a test or quiz during your absence, make an appointment to do a make-up.

  18. Classroom Discussions • PLEASE participate. • Attempt to speak in Spanish as much as possible. Practice makes progress. • I want to hear what you have to say. • Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion. • If your question is off the topic, write it down and ask later.

  19. ¿Puedoir al baño? First 5 or Last 5 You may ask to go to the bathroom during the first or last five minutes of class. You MUST ALWAYS fill out your pass. Do not ask during a classroom discussion unless it is an emergency.

  20. Class Dismissal • The teacher dismisses you, not the bell. • Do not start packing up prior to the bell. • Wait until the teacher finishes and officially dismisses you with: “ ¡Muchas gracias! ¡Hasta luego!”

  21. “Special” ProceduresThese will be introduced on an “as needed” basis • Computer Lab • Library/Media Center • Fire Drill • Assemblies • Progress Reports/Report Cards • Working Cooperatively • Substitute Teacher
