  4. Imitate Christ • Hebrews 12:1-2, Looking unto Jesus… • 1 John 2:6, walk as He walked • Romans 8:29, being conformed to the image of His Son

  5. Jesus, Our Example Humility • Philippians 2:5-8, a fundamental quality and one demonstrated by Jesus. • 1 Peter 5:5-6, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble

  6. Jesus, Our Example Showing longsuffering • 1 Timothy 1:15-16, shown toward Paul, in spite of his past.Jesus showed “all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.” • Ephesians 4:1-2, walk worthy,…with longsuffering…

  9. Jesus, Our Example He obeyed the Father • Romans 15:2-3, He did not please Himself (He obeyed) • Matthew 26:39ff, John 6:38 • Matthew 7:21-23, we are called upon to do the will of the Father, rather than simply saying we know Him

  10. Jesus, Our Example In suffering • 1 Peter 2:21-23, He suffered to the point of death • Hebrews 12:3 – He endured hostilities • Matthew 10:24-25, we are not above the teacher • 1 Peter 3:13-17

  11. Jesus, Our Example In faithfulness • Hebrews 3:1-2, the “Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus”, was faithful to God, as Moses was in his house • We are to be dependable and trustworthy. • 1 Corinthians 4:2, a faithful steward • Matthew 25:21, 23, etc.

  12. Jesus, Our Example In forgiveness • Colossians 3:13, even as Christ forgave, so you also must do • Examples of forgiveness are desperately needed today(consider the unforgiving darkness around us) • Matthew 6:14-16, as we forgive we will be forgiven • Luke 23:34, Jesus an example

  13. Are we looking to the example of Jesus as we let our light shine?
