  1. Eltron troubleshooting flow diagram Turn the Eltron off and on. What color is the light? If red, faulty printer. If an autosense does not work, it needs to be returned to Eltron/Zebra. Make a mark on the ticket. Press the green button again. Ticket will advance. Measure the distance with a ruler. If 5½” the printer is fine. Print a test ticket with Windows. Does the printer stop in the proper position? If green, press the green button. Ticket should advance and stop. What color is the light? Light is orange - the fun starts. Turn the printer off, hold the green button down and turn it on and do an autosense. Does that fix the printer? Ticket advances 1½ tickets and has an orange light. Turn the printer off and on so you get a green light. Send Eltron2B.txt to the printer. Autosense it. This may need to be repeated several times. Get a ruler and measure the distance between where the tickets stop and where they should stop. If the distance is 2½” the stock is upside down. If tix are any other distance off, you will need to set the offset with the ‘Q’ command. This is normally -200 for the 2742 and -240 for the 2722. We have experimented with values as high as 500 in both positive and negative. If there is a problem with a logo being upside down, the normal setting is about +300.Get the adjustment to within about ¼” and let the customer do the rest. Turn the printer off, hold the green button down and turn it on. When the tickets get moving, turn the printer off and on. The light will be green. Now, you can send Eltron2B.txt to the printer. If that doesn’t fix it, the printer is bad. Miscellaneous frustrations:Prints ‘weird’ characters. Diagnosis: in dump mode. Press the green button once.Prints the ‘A’ codes on the tickets. Diagnosis: Customer is using Wintix and sending printer codes to a Windows printer. Change the ticket setting to Windows printer (standard) and attach the ticket format to the Eltron. Printer doesn’t work even though the light is green. Diagnosis: the printer needs to have its firmware refreshed. Download a firmware update from www.zebra.com and install it.
