ISSUES and TOPICS • Strategies for deterring and dealing with purchased work. We all know it is happening, and that this is real cheating, but seem fairly powerless to do anything about it. • Strategies for dealing with possession electronic devices in exams. What works? Sanctions? • Policies around editing. • ELL issues • What, if anything, can we do to try and put the teaching of basic research/writing skills back into the hands of high schools?
ISSUES and TOPICS • How to assess/evaluate the effectiveness of their educational programming. • How to evaluate our services and measure whether or not programming is achieving the intended goals/mandates. • Challenges: with this- people-resources required to • Development and administration of assessment tools. • Collect/analyze data; practicalities of collecting ‘data’ from students who participate in our programming. • What would assessment tools look like?
ISSUES and TOPICS • Is anyone using a “discipline matrix”? • Statistics reporting: Do you report? What is reported (total cases; just appeal cases)? Is this public? • Tracking work flow: Do you track the things that you do (e.g. presentations, consultations, etc)? • Who sees this data? • How is this data used to inform us about how we do our work? • How is this data used to inform the University community?
Thank you Amanda McKenzie, Jo Hincliffe and Troy Brooks See you in 2015
