About the American Institute of Architects 1 - About (AIA) the American Institute of Architects Based in Washington, D.C., the AIA has been the leading professional membership association for licensed architects, emerging professionals, and allied partners since 1857. Our Goal With nearly 300 state and local chapters the AIA serves as the voice of the architecture profession and the resource for our members in service to society. We carry out our goal through advocacy, information, and community.   5. Shortlisted Nominees for HOSPITAL BUILD THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE ARCHITECT (AIA) submits the international specifications of hospitals and it updates them each 4 years . Through the Hospital Design Facilities Interior Division , there is an annual competition to choose the best hospitals which put into consideration the previous standards This year, there were 64 projects in The category of the best architectural design project in the Middle East and the best three of them have been nominated . In the main conference which had been held in Dubai on 15/06/2009 A.D, KING FAISAL UNIVERSITY PROJECT has been selected as the FIRST WINNER . 8

The Hospital Build Awards will be judged by   The Hospital Build Awards will be judged by an independent panel made up of internationally and regionally respected judges from a variety of industry sectors and disciplines. These include: KamilEidMr. AwniKopty Mr. Ted Jacob HDP Overseas Universal Hospital Services Ted Jacob Engineering Group Judging procedureAfter the closing date for submissions all nominations will be collected and reviewed by a panel of internationally recognised and respected judges drawn from a variety on industry sectors and disciplines – guaranteeing objectivity and credibility. The judges will use the published criteria against which to score the entry. Each Award winner will be decided by consensus among the judges and no correspondence will be entered into by outside parties. Judging will be based on the strength of the submissions and according to the Award key criteria. The judges will then submit their individual scores which are collated and a shortlist created and winners selected. Winners will be announced only on the night of the Awards ceremony itself. The Chair of the judging panel reserves the right to cast any deciding vote, should the need arise. The judges’ decision is final and neither the organisers nor the judging panel will enter into any correspondence about the results. Judging CriteriaEach entry will be scored by the judges using a simple scoring system based on the criteria for each Award. The scoring system will involve a judge allocating a maximum of 25 marks per criteria. 6

Winners revealed at the inaugural Hospital Build Awards Winners revealed at the inaugural Hospital Build Awards The first Hospital Build Awards ceremony took place today as a part of the Hospital Design & Upgrade Conference. “We were impressed with the number of nominations we received for the Awards and believe this reflects the need for a programme of this kind to recognise good practice in constructing new healthcare facilities in the region,” said Kamil Eid, Manager of Health Services for HDP (Overseas) Ltd and a member of the judging panel. 10
