Supporting Future Teachers: Insights from Year Three Focus Group Results at SFSU

In 2004, a focus group was convened to assess the experiences and challenges faced by future teachers at San Francisco State University. The findings highlight issues related to low status, excessive commitments, and financial hurdles. To foster a supportive community, the MSTI program offers $2,000 stipends, scholarships, and community-building activities including retreats and collaborative projects. As we evolve, increasing resources and support for our cohorts is essential to enhance the teaching profession's visibility and commitment.
