  2. Informal writing • The way people speak to each other daily. • Normally when speaking to someone who holds a similar position (peer) • Examples: • My new shoes are off the hook! • I sent you my work.

  3. Formal writing • The way someone would speak to another person who has a higher authority. • Not often used any more. • Examples: • Wedding invitations • Graduation invitations • Courts of law

  17. “Change” directions • Each player gets 7 cards. • The remainder of the cards are placed in a pile between the players. • One card from the deck gets flipped over. • If the first player can ‘play’ (if he or she has either a formal card if the original card is formal or informal if the original card is informal), he or she can. • OR if he or she can not play, or chooses to, he or she can play a “change” card to switch the deck. • The first player out of cards wins.
