Join the District PLC for our 6th Grade ELA workshop focusing on developing performance tasks as common formative assessments. This session will include a mini-PD on effective assessment strategies, allowing teachers to share questions, comments, and concerns. We will explore how to design rubrics that give descriptive feedback and help evaluate student mastery of learning targets. Upcoming dates for additional training will also be shared. Let’s work together to use formative assessments to guide instruction effectively!

Today’s Agenda • Parking Lot (5 minutes) • Teachers write questions/comments/concerns on a sticky-note and place it in the parking lot. Characteristics of a Performance Task • The task presents students with a problem (preferably real-world). • Students provide a tangible product for a defined audience. • Evaluation criteria are appropriate to the task and known to students in advance.
