  2. acquire (verb) MEANING EXAMPLE • to obtain or get something* • When I save up enough money, I’m going to acquire a new cell phone.*

  3. exclusive (adjective) MEANING EXAMPLE • limited; private; restricted • We decided our drama club was going to be exclusive, so only kids who had professional experience already could be in it.

  4. cylinder (noun) MEANING EXAMPLE • a shape like a tube or a can* • In art class, I decorated a cylinder to use as a pencil holder.

  5. mechanism (noun) MEANING EXAMPLE • a system of moving parts inside a machine • The flash mechanism inside my camera broke, so I must take it to be repaired.

  6. intermittent (adjective) MEANING EXAMPLE • stopping and starting over and over again • The intermittent chatter from the crowd broke the musician’s concentration.
