  1. #15- Indirect Object Pronouns( or IOPs)

  2. Objective: To review Indirect Object Pronouns in Spanish Essential Question • How are Indirect Object Pronouns identified and where are they placed in Spanish?

  4. Why Use IOPs? Example: Ana bought gifts for her friends. She bought gifts for them. • So, instead of repeating…her friends…we use the word them.

  5. What are the indirect object pronouns?

  6. Indirect Object Pronounsare placed… • before a conjugated verb or • attached to an infinitive (verb ending in -AR, -ER, or –IR) *IOP is always placed BEFORE the Direct Object Pronoun*

  7. Ejemplos: El meserodio la cuentaa Laura. *El meseroledio la cuentaa Laura. 2. Yocompré un regalo parami amigo. *Yolecompré un regalo.

  8. Because the indirect object pronouns le and les have multiple meanings, Spanish speakers often clarify to whom the pronouns refer with the preposition a + [pronoun] or a [noun] Ella le describe la película. Ella le describe la películaa Juan.

  9. Ahora…vamos a practicar • Tú diste el pan a nosotros. • Yo recomendé los tomates a Uds. • Mi amiga Juana sirvió la pasta a su familia. • Nosotros preguntamos la hora a la maestra. • Carlos y Pedro dijeron el precio a ti.

  10. Las respuestas… • Tú nos diste el pan. • Yo les recomendé los tomates a Ustedes. • Mi amiga Juana le sirvió la pasta a su familia. • Nosotros le preguntamos la hora a la maestra . • Carlos y Pedro te dijeron el precio.
