  4. What does TIG Do? • Promote Ready to Use Technologies • Annual Solicitation • Select 2-3 Focus Technologies (Lead States team) • Select 2-3 Additional Selected Technologies (AST)

  5. AASHTO TIG 2006 Focus Technologies : • Maintenance Decision Support System (MDSS) • Lead State (South Dakota) (Dave Huft) • Precast Concrete Paving Slabs (PCPS) • Lead State (New York) (Tim LaCoss) • Construction Analysis Software Tools (CAST) • Lead State (California) (Michael Samadian)

AASHTO TIG MDSS: • Uses Real World Data: • Current surface conditions, forecast weather, pavement composition, available materials, equipment, and work schedules • To Recommend the following: • Treatment type, application rate, and best time to apply • To Achieve these benefits: • Timely and effective maintenance, material savings, environmental benefits, and cost savings

  7. AASHTO TIG CAST: • CA4PRS • Decision-support tool in selecting most economical rehab strategies • Integrate schedule estimate with traffic delay calculation • CalTrans saw a savings of $6M agency and $2M in user costs in one project ($16M project)
