MARMARAY PROJECT Withtheopening of Marmaray, not onlytwosides of İstanbul andTurkeyortwocontinentsareconnected but also a seamlessrailwayconnection is ensuredfrom Far Asiato Western Europe, fromBeijingtoLondon. Turkeybecomesthemostadvantegouscountryalong modern silk road. MARMARAY PROJECT IN THE SCOPE OF MARMARAY PROJECT • 9.8 km bored tunnel, • 1.4 km immersed tube tunnel • 2.4 km cut-and-cover tunnel. • 5 new stations (Ayrılıkçeşmesi, Üsküdar, Sirkeci, Yenikapı and Kazlıçeşme) • 440 new rolling stocks were manufactured. (trains with 5 and 10 cars) Totally 13,6 kmtunnels were constructed

MARMARAY PROJECT DITCH SCREENING WORKS FOR PLACING THE IMMERSED TUBE TUNNEL ELEMENTS • Through the immersed tube tunnel alignment, a ditch with a height of ~12m-14m was excavated beneath the sea bottom rangingbetween 26 m and 47 mdeepness. • For the screening works of this ditch, 1.120.000m3 materials were excavated.

MARMARAY PROJECT PRECAUTIONS AGAINST EARTHQUAKES Marmaray Project was designed by considering the possible Main Marmara Fault Earthquake with Mw=7,5 moment magnitude (with 9-magnitude) CriteriaforEarthquakeResistant Design in CrossingtheBosphorus; • Ensuring 100% safety of lives • It is aimedforthestructureremaindurableand minimum level of functionloss is allowed. • Onlyrepairableminordamagesareexpected in structuralelements. • Joints of thetubetunnelwillneverleakwater. • Aftertheearthquake, theline can be put into service again in theshortest time.

MARMARAY PROJECT 440 ROLLING STOCKS ARE PROCURED FOR MARMARAY OPERATIONS • Rolling StockFleet of Marmaray; • EMU sets of Marmaray includetwotypes of setswhichare 5-car and 10-car sets. • 54 sets in total comprise of 440 cars of whichinclude 20 and 34 sets of 5-car and 10-car setsrespectively. Eachwagon is 22,5 m long, 5-car trainsare 112,5 m longand 10-car trainsare 225,2 m in length. • Width of thetrainsare 3,010 mm, theirheight is 3,850 mm. • Height of the platform is 1,050 mm. • Thereareautomaticcouplers on bothsides of thetrains.
