  4. American Literature We start with origin myths and end with the 1920’s coupled with ERWC units

  5. Class Expectations Please take out a sheet of paper. Place your name, date, period in the upper right hand corner. Title your paper: Class Expectations. #1Please list all the classroom rules/expectations you believe should be in place for success in this classroom #2 Please list all expectations you have of yourself #3 Please list all the expectations you have of us as your teachers While you do this, I will pass out the syllabus and take attendance

  6. Classroom Expectations How many of these match up with what you came up with? RESPECT Following directions Be on time Be ready Do not talk when… No cell phones Plaigiarism No heads on the desks

  7. Plagiarism Zero tolerance!

  8. Electronic Device Policy First Offense: Detention, lose all your participation points, call home, may have it taken away Second Offense: all of the above EXCEPT you will get it taken and your parent/guardian comes to get it It gets progressively worse…so, don’t do it!

  9. Materials Needed Part of your grade is to come prepared. Here’s what you need: Textbook 3 ring binder with 6 dividers Paper, pencil, black/blue and red pens Highlighters in: green, yellow, pink and blue Silent reading book (your choice, age appropriate, not a movie/picture book, may rent from me)

  10. Homework • No late work accepted • Excused absences only, due the very next day you’re here • Please see our website for more information on absent work Project/Essay Due Dates: This policy does not apply to projects and essays. Those must be turned in EVEN IF you are absent. In the event of an absence, it must be excused and your project must reach us by 2:40 the day it’s due.

  11. Grading Scale

  12. Restroom Usage • Four passes/semester • If not used, it counts as extra credit • Blank passes must be turned in at the end of the semester • If you go more than four times in one semester you must take a ½ hour detention

  13. Teacher Assistance Our schedules Dargavel = Tuesday & Thursdays Cordero = Wednesday & Friday Alternating Mondays Best time to reach us is before school, by email or appointment

  14. Homework Due • You must return a signed copy of the syllabus NEXT CLASS • Mask Assignment due on Monday • ALL materials, including reading book, due Monday • Binder with 6 dividers (wait to label them) • Paper • Pencils, black/blue and red pens, pencil with eraser • Highlighters: yellow, pink/orange, green and blue • Textbook • Reading book
