The Republic of Cyprus is launching a new disability and functioning assessment system, guided by the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF). Operated under the Department for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, this initiative, with a total cost of €6.3 million, is co-financed by the European Social Fund. Its primary goal is to create a reliable data foundation for assessing disabilities to streamline bureaucratic processes for individuals with disabilities. The establishment of an Assessment Centre will enhance the efficiency of services provided.

DEPARTMENT FOR SOCIAL INCLUSION REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND SOCIAL INSURANCE • The Project: • within the framework of the Operational Programme “Employment, Human Capital and Social Cohesion” 2007-2013 • Ongoing • 19 – 20 of July 2012 the first phase of the training was held concerning the usefulness of the ICF • By the end of the assessment, a person will know and have a report: not only on special needs for care, technical equipment, facilities, support but also on capabilities and new prospects for training, employment and inclusion.
